Platform Development Lead – iGaming

(Remote, Contractor Agreement)

Our client is a fully remote, fast-growing startup in the iGaming space, building a next-generation platform from the ground up. They’re looking for a senior backend developer who’s ready to step into a lead role—someone with strong technical fundamentals, product instincts, and the ability to guide a small team while still being hands-on.

What You’ll Do

- Own the backend – You’ll be responsible for designing and delivering a modern, high-performance backend system that’s secure, maintainable, and built to scale.

- Lead the team – Support and mentor backend developers, offering guidance through code, reviews, and technical decisions—not micromanagement.

- Set standards – Define and uphold development best practices around testing, security, documentation, and deployment.

- Work cross-functionally – Partner closely with product and frontend teams to build cohesive, end-to-end solutions.

- Drive delivery – Use a pragmatic, Kanban-style approach to backlog management and prioritization. Keep things lean, clear, and focused.

- Stay hands-on – This is a leadership role, but you’ll still be very involved in coding and architecture.

What You Bring

- iGaming experience – You’ve spent at least 1 year working on a gambling platform. You understand the space and its technical nuances.

- 10 years of backend development – You’ve built complex systems, made architectural decisions, and shipped real products.

- Strong tech stack knowledge – Node.js, TypeScript, REST, GraphQL, AWS, CI/CD (GitLab), and ideally Cloudflare Workers and D1.

- Leadership without ego – You take initiative, guide others, and communicate clearly—especially in distributed teams.

- Startup mentality – You’re adaptable, action-oriented, and thrive in fast-paced environments where things aren’t always figured out yet.
